Participants come from all over Southeastern CT & RI, to sample items, get inspired, make new friends and of course, swap loot! No money, just great food, is exchanged. We organize a swap on the 3rd Sunday each month, at Terra Firma Farm in Stonington, CT

]]>Fri, 20 Apr 2012 20:55:34 -0500<![CDATA[After School Program]]>Terra Firma Farm is entering our 7th year of After School Programs here on the Farm! Throughout the year, the farm-based after school program serves local area students each Wednesday & Thursday. The Terra Firma Farm After School program follows the Stonington Public School Calendar for holidays, half days, vacations and cancellations.
    The After School program offers children in grades K- 8 the opportunity for fun, learning and exploration. Students arrive on the farm and are welcomed with a fresh after school snack. The children then do farm animal chores such as feeding the pigs, goats, cows, donkeys and the hens. A highlight of each day is gathering eggs from the laying hens. After chores are completed, children may participate in a range of other agriculture-based activities, including gardening, cooking, canning and preserving food, cheese- or butter-making, fiber arts, nature crafts, and much more. Other crafts and activities are scheduled to coincide with holidays and seasonal changes on the farm.

  This Spring After school will be offered on  Wednesdays (April 18- June 6).  Students are dropped at the farm after school on the school bus and must be picked up by 5:30 PM.

Poultry Share

Each MONTH your share will include 4 whole chickens (approximate 16 pounds total) plus 2 dozen eggs. 

The Cost: For a 4 month subscription the share cost is $88. 

Meat Share 

Each MONTH your share will include approximately 10-15 pounds of meat* plus 1 dozen eggs. The meat will always be from at least two species, but we will do our best to include some meat from all species available (pork, chicken, lamb and beef). We will make every effort to include a mixture of species and a mixture of premium to economical cuts. 

* Some months the total weight will be slightly less when smaller, higher-priced cuts are included.

Sample share A: A monthly share may include 4 lbs chicken, 1 lb ground beef, 1 lb ground pork, 2 lbs pork chops, 2 lbs of bacon and 1 dozen eggs.

Sample Share B: A monthly share may include 1 lb ground pork, 1 lb ground beef, 2 lbs breakfast sausage, 1 lb Italian sausage, 4 lbs chicken, 2 lbs steak and 1 dozen eggs.

The Cost: For a 1 month subscription the share cost is $105

Egg Share

Each MONTH your share will include 4 dozen eggs. 

The Cost: For a 1 month subscription the share cost is $16.
